Mulberry Millie International.

Hi Everyone,

I have a number of international customers who have enquired about buying a "Millie"; the freight is expensive.
Therefore I am looking  to sell in bulk or licence "Millie" overseas.
If anyone is interested in purchasing in bulk or Licencing please contact me.
Happy Quilting,
Ann.

"Tassie Millie"

Hi Everyone,

This is a very brief post to let you know that a "Millie" is on her way to her new home in Tasmania!
This is very exciting for me, I now have a "Millie" in all but one state of Australia.
And one in the USA!!

Queensland, New South Wales, Canberra, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and now Tasmania all have at least one  "Millie", that just leaves the Northern Territory.
The first completed order from the Northern Territory will receive the fabric to make a Design Wall!!!

Don't forget that a number of  suppliers will close down over Christmas and New Year so there may be delays in filling orders for frames if I run out of material to make "Millie" and have to wait til the suppliers reopen in the New Year.
If it's a Christmas present you are after get in early to avoid disappointment.
Happy Quilting,
Ann.

Brisbane Craft and Quilt Fair 2011. Feedback.

Hi Everyone,
Libbie and I are so tired! 5 days of Pin Basting and talking!
Due to a recent unexpected  illness in my family I got behind on my piecing so sent out an SOS for Quilt Tops which was answered by the local branch of Project Linus, Libbie and I managed to Baste about 10 quilt tops for them. We could have done a lot more in the time but were also busy demonstrating "Millie" to all her admirers. The words brilliant, wonderful, smart, clever, genius etc are still ringing in our ears
What a lovely time we had and so many orders - that will keep me busy making frames for a while.
I have placed another order for my aluminium and fabric and will have to get down to work so this is a very brief Post.
Don't forget to keep an eye on my YouTube Channel.
Happy Quilting Ann.

Envelope Clips

                                                                Hello Everyone,
This is just a quick post to show you a photo of the new clamps I am using to assist in tensioning the backing during Basting, these "Envelope Clips" as described by one seller are fantastic to hold the backing in place and allow for easier tension adjustment. I have also found that I do not need to fully pin the Fabric Pinning Panels in place if I use clamps/clips.
These clips are the best I have found to date, and unlike the others I have used these ones can be used on the lower bar when it is in it's lowest position (on the floor).
I purchased mine from a Stationary Store, I have tried two sizes 75mm and 63mm, both work well on the lap size quilts, I have yet to try them on a Queen size.
I hope you find them helpful -  I know I have!

Happy Quilting,
Ann.
PS Libbie will be here next week to help me get ready for the Brisbane Craft And Quilt Fair which starts on the 19th October.

Caryl's Quilt

As posted earlier Libbie and I had a lovely day in June demonstrating "Millie" to the Jimboomba Quilting and Stitching Group. We would like to once again thank them  for their hospitality.
I returned in July to deliver their very own, brand new Millie! Caryl was good enough to let me use her beautiful quilt top to do a supervised demonstration for the handover.
Caryl's quilt was a combination of a pattern/kit she purchased from Spotlight and her own brilliant finishing touches.
I believe the ladies are putting "Millie" through her paces on a regular basis!
More photos to come soon from my recent demonstrations at the Queensland Quilter's meeting.
Happy Quilting,
Ann.

New Basting Service on offer soon!

Hi everyone,
I will soon be offering a basting service, for all those people who love their Patchwork but who cannot face the basting and maybe considering purchasing a "Millie" I will soon be offering a basting service so you can see the excellent job that "Millie" does!
It will work by you sending me your Quilt Top plus Batting and Backing (each person knows what they want their quilt to look like so choosing the batting and backing is every bit as important as the top to my way of thinking), I will pin or tag  baste it (your choice) and return it to you after cleared payment for service and return postage is received, registered and insured postage both ways will be paid for by the customer, I will charge for my time and the curved basting pins which you will keep or the disposable plastic tags. A percentage of the cost (from one basting) will be refunded if a "Millie" is purchased in the future by that customer.
Due to the cost of postage I would expect that only customers in Australia would be interested.
All prices will be in Australian Dollars.
Anyone interested please contact Ann to arrange.
Don't forget to see Libbie and me at the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair in October 2011.
Happy Quilting,
Ann.

I have added a link to the Brisbane Craft and Quilt Fair in October, Libbie and I will be there to demonstrate the Mulberry Millie so come and have a look and a chat, speaking of Libbie she is coming to visit again this week and we hope to get back to work on the new video (how to pin baste a large quilt).

If there are any interstate (Capital City) Quilting Guilds or Groups that are interested in inviting Libbie and I to your next Quilting Show to demonstrate Mulberry Millie then contact me and I will see if it can be arranged.

Happy Quilting Ann.

Also I have been working on some modifications to the basic fabric window, more on that when I have done my trials.
Today I have finally reviewed my pricing, the following will be current until the 30th November 2011 and thereafter may change without notice if my costs go up such that it makes these prices unsustainable.

Coming soon, New Pricing.

Hi Everyone,

I have been reviewing the pricing of my frames for some time now, and have been attempting to find ways to reduce the cost to the purchaser, I believe in my frame and would like as many people as possible to benefit from it's uniqueness and versatility. I will review it further over the next day or two and hope to be able to detail the new price list in the next few days, the price will stay fixed until the 30th of November 2011 and will only increase if my costs increase after that time.

Libbie (the person) is arriving on Thursday and we have a demonstration booked for "Millie" on that day at The Gap in Brisbane! Our last demonstration resulted in a sale and that frame will be delivered to it's new home on Brisbane's South side tomorrow.
Libbie and I plan to do a video on Pin Basting a large quilt on "Millie" during her visit.

Happy Quilting,
Ann.

P.S. Don't forget to watch for new videos on YouTube!
Next Demonstration at Club Coops is on Tuesday 2nd August 2011 from 1100hrs til 1200hrs.
Contact me if you would like to bring a small quilt along to pin on the day.

New Video, Tensioning the Fabric Window

Hi Everyone,

Because time was short Libbie and I made a video using the iPhone and it was good!  but! when I uploaded it to YouTube I must have done something wrong because upon playing it on YouTube the video was in the middle  with two big black stripes on either side - most uncomfortable to watch!
I will try again today with the video camera, but Libbie has gone home to Sydney so I will have to try on my own or enlist the assistance of someone else.

Happy Quilting, Ann

Millie Video on YouTube

 Hi Everyone,

I have also uploaded my demonstration video to YouTube, I have been looking at quilting videos lately - there are some really good ones on YouTube! And having seen how difficult it is for some people to do their pin basting it has given me a kick start to get my frame out to more people, I really believe it is a superior way to pin baste,  plus you have the added advantage of a Design Wall and a means to take photos of your quilt, (there are people who are very happy with how they pin baste, my frame was not invented with them in mind - I am catering to those who are not happy with pin basting in the traditional way and are open to a new method)

I will be uploading my future videos to YouTube and this Blog, I have procrastinated a long time over making and editing my video, and it needs more work I know, but I have gotten the bug now and plan quite a few, mainly to help purchasers to use their frames, it takes a bit of getting used to as it is an unfamiliar method and I can't be everywhere,  but my videos can be!

Happy Quilting,

Ann.

P.S. In regard to YouTube: I have changed the earlier video from  Public to Private (I have revised it and the new improved video is on YouTube!)

Demonstration Monday 27th June 2011 at Jimboomba Qld.

Hi All,

This is a very quick post to say "thank you" to the members of the Jimboomba Quilting and Stitching Group (Queensland, Australia) for inviting me to demonstrate "Millie" on Monday 27th June 2011.
Libbie (the person) is coming up from Sydney especially to help and we  also hope to make some new friends!
I may be able to include some photos from the day, I best remember to take my camera!

Don't forget to have a quick look down my list of "Posts", there maybe something  to interest you.

I will be doing a large quilt on my frame next week and Libbie and I will video it, keep an eye out for it on my future posting.

Happy Quilting,

Ann.

Mulberry Millie Prices

Hi Everyone,

A number of people are experiencing difficulty finding the price of the frame and extension on the Mulberry Millie Website, you need to click on "Products" that will take you to another page, then take the cursor over the picture of either the Basic Frame (May) or the Extension and when the hand points - click on the picture, that will take you to a page with the price and more photos.
I am sorry for any inconvenience, I have reported it to my Website Designer and hope to have it made more user friendly soon.

In regard to price:
The Basic Frame "May" is AU$395.00.
"Libbie" is AU$460.00.
The Extension is currently AU$250.00,  I am in the process of reviewing the price of the Extension.

I have a "Libbie" on www.ebay.com.au  at present and list there on occasion.

Have a look on YouTube for my Video of Mulberry Millie, there are also some really goods quilting videos to watch.

Happy Quilting,

Ann.

Demonstration Video Number 1.

Hello Everyone,

Well at long last the video I have been promising, I have a long way to go when it comes to video making, but my aim is to only get better! so please enjoy!
The purpose of my planned videos is to provide a series of "how to use Mulberry Millie" videos, they can also be in response to specific questions by purchasers or those considering purchasing.

Another aim of mine is to be thinner in each video (til I reach my goal of 75kgs -165lbs, oh what a lovely dream I am having), when they say "the camera adds 10lbs" they were not kidding, more like 30kgs!!
Let me know if you like the video, my next one will be on how  to put a big quilt together on the basic frame "May".

Bye for now,
Ann.

Spring loaded clamps

Hello Everyone,

This is a quick post to show you a photo of the type of clamps I use on the frame when I clamp the backing directly to the frame.

 Spring loaded clamps -

There are a number of different clamps on the market, you just need to find one you like.
I have seen these and similiar style clamps in Hardware and Variety Stores in Australia.
I hope this is helpful.
Have a nice day.

Viewing distribution

Hello Everyone,
This is just a quick post to let you know the distribution of the blog's viewers to date, and to say hello,
So here we go : a big HELLO to Australia, USA, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, UK, Brazil, New Zealand and Singapore.
Maybe someone could make a comment or email me so I know what interests you about my frame or ask some questions if you need clarification on any aspects of it's use?
I would love to be in contact with quilting enthusiasts from other parts of our beautiful world, I do have Bill in the USA who keeps me up to date on the weather over there, it is always fun to hear that when I am over here perspiring profusely with the temperature in the  30's C with a humidity in the 60's  he is shoveling snow from his driveway! Of cause at present that is visa versa but we have no snow up here,(down south yes)
Libbie is heading home today (Boo Hoo) but coming back to Brisbane to help me with a  demonstration on Monday 27th June 2011.
We are still working to get some photos up today.
Bye for now,
Happy Quilting.

Demonstration Feedback Tuesday 7/6/11

Hello everyone,

Mulberry Millie (Libbie) front view.
Mulberry Millie (Libbie) back view.
I had a lovely time on Tuesday demonstrating Millie.
Noreen came up from the southside and kindly brought her bed runner to put together on the frame, this was a challenge because it was approx 2.3meters long and about .6meters wide. I had only the basic frame (May) with me so  I had to go home and get the extension! Another challenge was pinning the two J/K fabric panels together to cover the 2.7meter span! Anyway a good time was had and I'm learning all the time about the many different forms this Quilting Craft takes.
Noreen brought her curved pins with her and took home a fully pinned bed runner ready to quilt at home, and what a lovely quilt it will be, unfortunately I forgot to take a photo! Maybe next time when someone brings a quilt along I will remember so we can all enjoy it.
In regard to future demonstrations, things have changed and I will be able to continue my monthly demonstrations at Club Coops as previously arranged, though the time will be 1100hrs until 1200hrs with the opportunity to extend the time if we are in the middle of pinning.
Happy Quilting,

Ann.

New Frame - name.

Hello again,

I would like you to know, I have given my new (International) frame a name:
"The Libbie"
This is to recognise the friendship and support given to me over the last 29 years from a friend like no other. Everyone should have a friend like Elizabeth (Libbie to only a few!) Thank you Libbie.

The Libbie has two classes, one for delivery via Post and one for delivery via Courier.

I have yet to finalise my price for "The Libbie",  sorry for any inconvenience.

Happy quilting,
Ann.

Ebay Listings

Hi everyone,

This is just to let you know I have a Basic Frame listed on eBay au,
I list on eBay on a casual basis, so keep a look out for the listings - you may get a bargain!

New frame on eBay au

Hello everyone,
Only just over one day to go on the eBay listing for the new frame, don't forget to have a look.
I will be advertising the price of the new frame next week.
Cheers Ann.

Monday 2 May 2011

Demonstration Tuesday 3rd May 2011

As per my plan to have a regular demonstration on the first Tuesday of every month, (with the exception of November which will be the second Tuesday).
The next demonstration will be on Tuesday 3rd May 2011. Time 1100hrs til 1300hrs.
The venue will be:
Club Coops, Gym, Lifestyle & Fitness Entertainment Centre.
751 Beams Road, Carseldine, Queensland. 4034.
Club Coops has good parking facilities and is close to Public Transport.  Refreshments can be purchased onsite or nearby.
It may be possible to use a "volunteered" quilt to demonstrate the frame, please bring your quilt sandwich along to be assembled on the frame, if we have more than two on the day we may need to make a decision!
You would need to supply the backing, batting, top and curved safety pins - how good would that be to take home a quilt sandwich ready to quilt? (ideal size to demonstrate is approx. 120cms x 120cms)
If you would like to try the design wall application bring along your blocks and give it a go (bring some papers, pens & pins to note the blocks positions.
That's all for now.

Happy Quilting, Ann.

P.S
I had a demonstration last Thursday (28th April 2011) evening at Home Sew in the  Aspley Hypermarket, on Brisbane's northside.
Thank you to Erica and James for inviting me to demonstrate my frame, and to Carol for preparing the room and supervising the evening, and to all the lovely ladies that attended the evening.
A special thank you to my daughter Eleanor for helping me on the night.
Ann.

New International Frame Ready

 At last my new frame!
I have listed this frame on eBay au as an Auction while I review the price. Please have a look.
Once I have finalized the price I will add it to my website under "Products"
This is the front of the frame, it shows the backing, batting and top of the quilt.

This is the view of the quilt from the back.
I am very excited about this frame, I have been working on it for a while now to simplify International freighting, unfortunately I was not able to get the packaging lighter (I will continue to give that area      consideration - but I do not wish to compromise quality in doing so)

This is a photo of the basic frame with flannelette added to make a Design Wall.

Happy Quilting,
Ann.

Well great news -  I am so pleased  my new frame is ready, it has been developed for posting via Australia Post to the International market.
I will be listing it initially on eBay under auction conditions, I have not completed my pricing review for this new frame so have a look, you may get a bargain.
The frame will list when I have a photo to accompany the listing.
Happy Quilting,
Ann.

International Packaging

Hello everyone,
I am very close to finalising my International frame, I had one made but it wasn't quite what I wanted, so I am modifying the design  and hope to list the new model on eBay au over the Easter weekend.
I have a "first grade" (normally $395.00) frame on ebay at present, the bidding starts at $360.00 so have a look you may get a bargain!
Happy Easter to all,
Regards Ann.

Saturday 16 April 2011

Enquiry Distribution to date and Overseas Freight.

Well yesterday I had an email enquiry from South Africa!
I had previously had a verbal enquiry from a  lady in Australia wishing to give her Mother or Mother-in-law in South Africa a frame for Christmas but at that time the logistics of getting the frame overseas in time was problematic.
International Enquiries to date have been from the USA, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. At home I have had  enquiries from all states of Australia with the exception of Tasmania and the Northern Territory (maybe someone from each of those two states could enquire so I can have a clean sweep of Australia?)
The freight to International delivery points is high and I have been working on a way to get "Millie"  into a  smaller carton to send via Australia Post.
I now have the boxes available, just need to finish a few more tests on the frame and will soon be able to offer it for sale. I intend to place a couple on eBay, and will add the new frame to the website.
To get the frame small enough to fit into a box that Australia Post will take has required me to cut the long lengths in half, they will then have a connection inserted and glued, it will require an extra step in assembly at the receiver's end and recommended gluing of the joint, but the savings on freight costs will be beneficial.
I am also sourcing a lighter weight fabric to reduce the overall weight of the package to further reduce both freight cost and maybe frame cost, the lighter fabric may require replacing sooner, but the purchaser can buy local fabric and use the original as a pattern, (for owners use only - this is not permission to make or  sell this "Patented" product)
Well I will close for now because I know we are all busy people, I intend to post short sharp to the point postings on one main point to be read quickly and found easily  if someone wants to read  it again in the future.
Thank you for your time and happy quilting.
Ann

Wednesday 6 April 2011

Demonstration Feedback 5 April 2011

Well I had a good day yesterday, thank you to the attendees, a very enjoyable day was had by all.
I displayed the Quilting Frame and the Design Wall applications of "Millie".
Answered a lot of questions, had a good all round chat and took some photos for my next magazine ads.
Worked on some product development for the " International"  frame, this is a frame that will come in more pieces so that it can be packaged smaller for postage via Australia Post. The purchaser will need to do more work to assemble "Millie" but I hope the postage savings will offset any inconvenience.
I will keep you posted on the progress.
Bye for now.
Ann.

Sunday 3 April 2011

Demonstration Tuesday 5 April 2011

This is a reminder for my demonstration on Tuesday 5th April 2011.

Time:         1100hrs til 1300hrs.
Where:      Club Coops, Gym, Lifestyle & Fitness Entertainment Centre.
751 Beams Road, Carseldine, Queensland. 4034.

I  am not intending to sell on the day, orders can be taken.

Demonstrations

Hello fellow Quilters,
This is my first blog, so I hope to improve as time goes by!
My reasons for starting this blog include to advise you of when and where I have arranged to demonstrate my Upright Quilt Basting Frame (Mulberry Millie), to allow for distribution of handy hints and advice on the use of the frame and any other items of interest I may think of.
I plan to have a regular demonstration the first Tuesday of every month, the one exception is November which will be the second Tuesday. Not a good idea organising anything on Melbourne Cup Day!
The first demonstration will be on Tuesday 5th April 2011. Time 1100hrs til 1300hrs.
The venue will be Club Coops, Gym, Lifestyle & Fitness Entertainment Centre. 751 Beams Road, Carseldine, Queensland. 4034.
Club Coops has good parking facilities and is close to Public Transport.  Refreshments can be purchased onsite or nearby.
It may be possible to use a "volunteered" quilt to demonstrate the frame, please contact me if you would like your quilt sandwich to be assembled on the frame, you would need to supply the backing, batting, top and curved safety pins - how good would that be to take home a quilt sandwich ready to quilt? (ideal size to demonstrate is approx. 120cms x 120cms)
If you would like to try the design wall application bring along your blocks and give it a go (bring some papers, pens & pins to note the blocks positions.
That's all for now.
Happy Quilting, Ann.
