Well yesterday I had an email enquiry from South Africa!
I had previously had a verbal enquiry from a lady in Australia wishing to give her Mother or Mother-in-law in South Africa a frame for Christmas but at that time the logistics of getting the frame overseas in time was problematic.
International Enquiries to date have been from the USA, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. At home I have had enquiries from all states of Australia with the exception of Tasmania and the Northern Territory (maybe someone from each of those two states could enquire so I can have a clean sweep of Australia?)
The freight to International delivery points is high and I have been working on a way to get "Millie" into a smaller carton to send via Australia Post.
I now have the boxes available, just need to finish a few more tests on the frame and will soon be able to offer it for sale. I intend to place a couple on eBay, and will add the new frame to the website.
To get the frame small enough to fit into a box that Australia Post will take has required me to cut the long lengths in half, they will then have a connection inserted and glued, it will require an extra step in assembly at the receiver's end and recommended gluing of the joint, but the savings on freight costs will be beneficial.
I am also sourcing a lighter weight fabric to reduce the overall weight of the package to further reduce both freight cost and maybe frame cost, the lighter fabric may require replacing sooner, but the purchaser can buy local fabric and use the original as a pattern, (for owners use only - this is not permission to make or sell this "Patented" product)
Well I will close for now because I know we are all busy people, I intend to post short sharp to the point postings on one main point to be read quickly and found easily if someone wants to read it again in the future.Thank you for your time and happy quilting.
